I've been a project manager for 8 years. Good at it, too. But I'd tried starting 4 different side businesses — a podcast, a Shopify store, a newsletter, a coaching thing — and abandoned all of them within a month.
When I drew my card and got The Spark, the shadow section literally said "Starting is your drug and finishing is your rehab." I sat with that for about an hour.
The plan didn't let me start something new. It told me to go back to the thing I was already good at — project management — and sell it directly. Day 1 was researching competitors. Day 3 was reaching out to small businesses in Denver that looked like they were drowning in disorganization. By Day 9, a local marketing agency hired me for 10 hours a week.
The first month I made $2,400 just from that one client. Not life-changing money. But it was the first time I'd earned revenue from my own thing and kept going past the first month.
Month 3, I had three clients and was pulling in $4,800/month. I finally quit my full-time job. The difference? I didn't start something new. I finished something old.
